Solar and Wind Energy
Continuously growing consumption of various forms of energy throughout human society, low reserves of fossil fuels and protection of the environment puts pressure on integrating renewable energy sources into the global energy mix. In 2040, according to the latest predictions of international agencies, the energy of Sun and wind is supposed to provide up to 50 % of energy consumption in Europe. This expanding solar and wind power market is an ideal opportunity for the upcoming generation of engineers, as in 2016, the production, construction and operation of renewable sources created 9.8 million new jobs in the world. However, the effective and sustainable deployment of renewable sources is conditional on the development of off-peak energy storage technologies, thereby to some extent eliminating the intermittent nature of wind and solar sources.
