Welcome
The aim of the course Introduction to System Identification and Fault Detection is to provide the students with basics terminology and techniques used in the areas of system identification and fault detection. System identification deals with building mathematical models based on an a priori information and experimental data. These models can be used to predict behavior of the system in the future or to design a controller or a fault detector. This course put stress on the use of system identification to get a model that is subsequently used for fault detection. Fault detection deals with the design of a fault detector that provides information about potential faults in the monitored system. An early detection of faults is important as it helps to reduce economical losses or damage to system and its environment.
