Retrospective anthropology studies human biocultural diversity in the past. Humans are studied through their skeletal remains on individual and population levels. Retrospective anthropology is a cumulative product of various disciplines, including biological anthropology, human osteology, taphonomy, bioarcheology, paleoanthropology, funerary archeology, forensic anthropology, paleopathology, paleodemography, and human ecology. The aim of the course is to present students with a wide array of these subdisciplines in a broader perspective, in which they co-create a multidisciplinary field of Retrospective anthropology.
