Key learning outcomes Anyone who completes the above-mentioned study will acquire a wide professional knowledge in the area of technologies and other integrated disciplines, which form part of the educational programme "Man and the World of Work in the Framework Educational Programme for Basic Education". From the point of view of theoretical, professional and technical competence, the graduate will be very knowledgeable about the areas of materials, machinery, electrical engineering and automation. From the point of view of practical, specialized and technical competence, the graduate can work with both manual and mechanical cutting tools, can propose appropriate machining technologies and can produce simple structural drawings. The graduate is a team player. He is able to work systematically on assignments set as well as to handle them creatively and effectively or to propose solutions. He will also acquire a positive relation to technologies and nature. The graduate can draw ecological and economic conclusions from his own or global technical solutions. At the same time, he is aware of the presence and necessity of technical progress and of related dangers. From the didactic and pedagogical point view, the graduate is capable of imparting the above-mentioned knowledge and skills competently and in an adequate form to pupils at junior schools. The didactic competence acquired enables the graduate to use modern didactic methods and forms, including alternative teaching models. The graduate commands system tools for creating the curriculum of the subject "technical education" as part of a school educational programme and understands well the problems of the present school legislation, especially in the area of "Man and the World of Work". Pedagogical, psychological and social competence allows the graduate to model complicated conditions of education in pedagogical reality. The graduate uses actively information and communication technologies for his further systematic education. At the same time, these technologies are used by him in the teaching process to accelerate the educational process and to make it more effective. Thanks to these technologies he gets up-to-date information from the whole world and incorporates such information in teaching. When teaching, the graduate is able to actively use modern didactic technologies and to prepare attractive multimedia and interactive teaching materials with the help of such technologies. In addition, the graduate is familiarized with safety and hygiene at work and knows how to avoid accidents and material losses.

Profile of the programme This study programme is designed as an academic one. It consists of blocks of theoretical courses dealing with the field of creation of project documentation, construction materials, principles of the techniques and systems, technical creativity, didactic technology and subject didactics courses. At the same time, it comprises a block of courses focusing on exploiting theoretical background in practice and on acquiring skills that the graduate can apply in various positions, for example teacher of technical education for primary school. The programme also includes practical training realized by observing and teaching in elementary schools.
