The aim of the course is to make students familiar with history of the region of Middle East in the era from origins of Islam to the emergence of Mongols in 13th century. Students will learn of essential historical turning points and processes in broad context, of different ruling dynasties together with related specifics, of important political and social trends of given period. The attention is also paid to the relations with medieval Europe, which were determined by Mediterranean commerce and of course by territorial ambitions of Muslim dynasties or by crusades.
