Society and Religions of Israel

Course annotation KBS/NIY -IS/STAG

Students of the course get to know history, customs and every day current issues of the main religious and socio-cultural groups which are the part of the contemporary Israeli society. They get to know particular sectors of major Jewish society (secular, orthodox, Ethiopian) as well as the life of the religious and ethnic minorities living in the territory of the Jewish state. They will apply their knowledge of the relevant anthropological concepts like migration, integration, melting pot of multiculturalism within the case study and they will understand limits of the theories or paradoxes that follow from their application in a real environment. The course is designed for students of the post-Bachelor (Master) programme.
