The aim of the course is to introduce ethnography/fieldwork as a basic social anthropological methodological tool. Students will be acquainted with forms, techniques and methodological difficulties of ethnography. Attention will be paid to fieldwork stages, identity of a researcher, ethical issues of anthropological work and the process of data publication. This will be accomplished in the form of lectures, reading of anthropological literature, the presentation of scholars who have realized their own fieldwork, and also by the means of students´ own research carried our during the term. In their own fieldwork students will be encouraged to try two basic methods of anthropological research: participant observation and interview.
