Course content
We'll encounter a broad range of work including children's literature, graphic novels, YA fiction, scifi, music, TV and film. Students will explore how these works deal with stereotypes, analogies, exoticism, power relations, and other dynamics from the Intercultural Toolbox. We'll analyze how cultural difference is negotiated by characters - the strategies they employ, the examples they set - learning to read them as models of agency for intercultural communication.
