Course content
Basic concepts and classification of computer networks, network topology, network models and architectures. Physical layer: active and passive components of structured cabling system, metallic and fibre optic cables, properties, applications and wiring. Data link layer: acknowledgement, link layer protocols, access methods. Network layer: network protocols, services, monitoring and analysis, reliability, safety rules and risks of working in computer network. Addressing in TCP/IP networks, principles, rules and software tools used to creation of subnets. Principles and rules of routing, routing methods and protocols. Transport layer: transport layer protocols, data delivery mechanisms. Application layer: application layer protocols and services. Conception, standards, configuration and security of wireless networks. Authentication principles, mechanisms, tools, computer network management systems, directory service systems. Principles of computer network security, management and monitoring.
