Course objectives:

To acquaint students with the basic categories of medical electronics. Clarify the principles of electronic systems for medical diagnostics and therapy.

Requirements on student
|
By Written test (credit) and by combined exam demonstrate understanding of basic principles of electronic systems for medical diagnostics and therapy in the range of lectures and exercises.

|
1. Introduction to medical electronics. Medical electronics categorization. Systems for medical diagnostics and therapy. Measurement of non-electrical quantities on living tissues.
2. Electrophysiology. Electric properties of tissues.
3. Electroencephalography (EEG). Electrocardiography (ECG). Electromyography (EMG).
4. Instruments for electrostimulation, electrotherapy and electrosurgery.
5. Endoscopy. IR termography.
6. Audiometry. Ultrasonography.
7. X-ray technique.
8. Computed tomography.
9. Radiation protection. Radiotherapy.
10. Cooling in medicine. Hyperbaroxia.
11. Magnetic resonance, nuclear medicine.
12. Medical instruments in intensive care units (ICU) and operating rooms.
13. Artificial organs.

to explain the fundamentals of electrical circuits, explain the behavior of R, L, C elements in an electrical circuit |
