Course objectives:
|
To get acquainted with the fundamentals of microscopic, mesocopic and macroscopic theory of magnetism and its applications in the field of magnetic materials. Adopt basic phenomena associated with the magnetization and demagnetization of materials. Learn how to measure and analyze magnetic properties and characteristics of magnetic materials.

- participation in laboratory exercises and submission of results in the required form
- active participation in exercises
Examination:
Knowledge of all materials from lectures and seminars.

1. Historical context and application of magnetic materials
2. Microscopic, mesoscopic and macroscopic theory of magnetism
3. Magnetic moments, classes of magnetic materials, magnetocrystalline, voltage, temperature and shape anisotropy
4. Non-linear characteristics of magnetic materials, magnetic domains and hysteresis
6. Magnetisation and demagnetization
7. Fundamentals of magnetic quantities measurement, magnetic sensors
8. Magnetometry, magnetic scanning and microscopy
9. Magnetoresistive, magnetocaloric, magnetostrictive materials and shape memory materials
10. Magnetic fluids and magnetic elastomers
11. Superconductors and high magnetic fields
12. Magnetic field of planets, geomagnetism and geodynamic modeling
