Presented Master's thesis deals with a solution of option pricing equations using the systems of orthogonal polynomials and its subsequent implementation.
The properties of the orthogonal polynomials are useful in solving mathematical
or physical problems and can be used, e.g. to approximate functions, to numerically integrate or to solve many types of dferential equations. Using the Galerkin method, we solve the parabolic partial differential equation for Black-Scholes model using Hermite polynomials and for Heston model using Hermite and Laguerre polynomials. We compare obtained solutions to existing semiclosed pricing formulas. A special attention is paid to the solution of Heston model at the boundary with zero volatility.
