The theoretical part of thesis deals with modern concepts of steel processing in the automotive industry. The aim of the experimental part of thesis is to investigate the effect of austempering on the structure and mechanical properties development of medium-carbon low-alloy steels with respect to silicon and chromium content. The main purpose of the thesis is to find and determine the decisive influences, that play a significant role in the development of the microstructure of awtempered steels, whose knowledge can be a source for the production and processing of high-strength, tough and economical steel parts used in the automotive industry.
