Course objectives:

A course acquaints the students with basic laboratory investigative methods of cytogenetics and molecular diagnostics and their assessment particularly focused on tumorous issues.

|
Lectures: 1.Revision of basic terms of cytogenetics and molecular genetics. 2.Changes in quantity and structure of chromosomes. 3.Genic structure and changes (mutations) of genes. 4.Influence of harmful factors in emternal environment on human genome - radiation, chemical substances and biologic impacts. 5.Investigative techniques in cytogenetics. 6.Investigative techniques in molecular diagnostics. 7.Indication and interpretation of laboratory results. 8.Human genome project. 9.Genetic essence of cancer. 10.Hereditary forms of tumorous diseases. 11.Rules of genetic counselling. 12.Indication and interpretation of laboratory results. 13.Ethical problems in genetics.
