Course objectives:
|
Practically to acquaint students with different types of maps, selected methods of topographic and thematic mapping in relation to the theoretical background and the need for socio-economic research. To teach students the basics methods of mapping and simple maps to the needs of socio-economic research using GIS.

Requirements on student
|
Active participation to the processing of partial topographic tasks. The development task of field measurement on the selected topic, alternatively and mpping of the socio-economic elements in the landscape, either individually or as a group. Emphasis is placed on the collection, processing, evaluation and graphical presentation of the measured data.

Content
|
Working with topographic and thematic maps.
The selected method of topographic mapping and the foundations of the structure of the map.
Field part: Mapping of the socio-economic elements in the landscape. The use of GPS technology. Practical topographic measurement in the field. Processing and presentation of results using GIS.
