Diplomová práce je tématicky zaměřená na seniorskou populaci a především její potřeby. Teoretická část definuje lidské potřeby, geriatrického pacienta, proces stárnutí a stáří a změny s ním související. Empirická část interpretuje a prezentuje průběh a výsledky kvalitativního výzkumného šetření.

The diploma thesis is thematically focused on the senior population and especially its needs. The theoretical part defines human needs, the geriatric patient, the process of aging and old age and changes related to it. The empirical part interprets and presents the course and results of a qualitative research survey. The research group consisted of 6 nurses working in a home for the elderly, who provided subjective information about feelings and experiences related to meeting the needs of security and safety. This research pointed to shortcomings in meeting these needs. In practice, biological needs are preferred to psychological, social and spiritual needs. The need for security and safety is a subjective feeling that is based on trust between the senior and nursing staff. Therefore, we must continuously build a relationship with a senior in order to gain a sense
of security and safety and be able to confide in his feelings. Only in this way can we understand unmet needs and identify interventions to meet th
