Course objectives:

This course provides an overiew of inorganic and organic chemistry. With regard to the field of study it is focused on the relationship of inorganic and organic chemistry to medicine.

Requirements on student
|
Class participation on seminars. Pass check test and pass the exam.

|
1. Periodic system. Periodicity of elements properties and their compounds. 2. The structure of crystalline matters. Stereochemistry of inorganic compounds. 3. Hydrogen and hydrides. Oxygen, oxides. Water. Characteristics of s-elements. 4. Characteristics of p-elements. 5. Chemistry of transition elements and their compounds. Coordination compounds. 6. Significance and use of important elements and their compounds in practise. Bioelements. 7.Basic principles of organic chemistry. Nomenclature of organic chemistry. 8. Alkanes, cykloalkanes, alkenes, alkynes, Aromatic hydrocarbons. 9. Halogenated derivatives of hydrocarbons. 10. Oxygenous derivatives of hydrocarbons. 11.Nitrogenous derivatives and organic matters with sulphur. 12. Heterocyclic compounds. 13.Chemistry of sacharides. 14.Chemistry of lipids. 15. Nucleic acids. Purin and pyrimidine bases.

Prerequisites - other information about course preconditions |
The knowledge of general chemistry in range of courses: KCH/OFCH. Basic skills related to the nomenclature of simple inorganic compounds and notation of chemical reaction by the equations. Basic knowledge about building of mass and chemical processes. The knowledge of high-school chemistry is expected. |
Competences acquired |
Students know the basic knowledge in periodicity of chemical and physical elements (and thei compounds) properties and system of organic and inorganic matters. Students apply the basic theoretical knowledge to practice. |
