Course objectives:

Students of the faculty of electrical engineering are provided with information, which let them to understand basic function and design of electrical devices used in electrical engineering.

Content
|
Electrical network parameters, electrical devices used in electrical engineering, interactions, overvoltage in electrical networks, coordination of insulation, electromagnetic forces, basic principles of designing electrical devices, switching processes, rising of temperature of current paths during operational and fault time, materials for electrical contacts and its properties, electromagnet, bimetals and its properties.

Knowledge - students are expected to possess the following knowledge before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
Knowledge of the problems on graduate level of Electrical Apparatus 1 subject, which is taught at the Department of Electrical Power Engineering and Ecology of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. |

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
Passing out the subject students will remember basic terms connected to electrical devices used in electrical engineering. Students will list and describe basic types of electrical devices used in electrical engineering. Students explain basic principals of electrical device relevant to mechanical and electrical properties. Students relate electrical device design and operational reliability. |
