The diploma thesis focuses on the decompensation-problem of charging capacitive currents generated by wind farms connected to the distribution network through highvoltage power lines. The theoretical part refers primarily to calculations of capacitive charging currents, active losses incurred on power lines, the possibilities of decompensating charging capacitive currents, the utilization of wind farms for high voltage control and reactive power and the transmission of electrical energy at an optimum power factor. The practical part includes a case study representing a wind farm connected to an electric distribution grid for the purpose of limiting charging capacitive currents on the power line and meet the required power factor in the transfer station. The results of the case study are two performed analyses. One without decompensation and one with a designed decompensation choke, both with fixed and tunable output power.
