Annotation in English
The theme of this work follows the basic ideas of the revolutionary and groundbreaking encyclical Rerum novarum, which was published during the turbulent period of the 19th century. It was a period of rapid industrial and technological change that created new social problems that should be resolved. Pope Leo XIII. through his encyclical negatively defines socialism as an ideology which, in his opinion, is the cause of social discord, which does not allow to fully resolve the issue of poverty concerning the working class. In this respect, the encyclical is downright anti-communist. From the analogous point of view, christian personalists, a group of political and philosophical theorists of the christian religion, are negatively defined against socialism. Top leaders of the catholic church and christian personalists point to the uniqueness of every human being, with every person abounding with universal and inalienable rights that are given by nature. The ideology of socialism is criticized in the anti-communist notion primarily for the fact that man, as a person, is not in the focus of their interest, but work. The qualitative content analysis of the text analyzes the key ideas contained in the encyclical Rerum novarum through the philosophy of christian personalism, as a specific political-theoretical direction, which is intended to explain in more detail the Pope's ideas. The same applies to Marx's ideas, which are summarized in the Communist manifesto and further elaborated in other works that deal with Marx's scientific work. The last part is devoted to the content analysis of the reference framework of anti-communist theses contained in the encyclical Rerum novarum. I will also answer the research question: how is the worker's character in the encyclical Rerum novarum explicitly defined in terms of human dignity? Human dignity is marked by the existence of universal rights and freedoms that must not be violated from the position of christianity because they would also undermine the true nature and meaning of every human being. The Rerum novarum encyclical is also one of the first documents that do not place human dignity on a material dimension.
