Course objectives:
|
The aim of this course is to present the problems of connection between philosophical-religious systems and works of art in Eastern countries (India, Tibet, China, Japan). The systems of thought are presented in the relation to the means of expression in particular kinds of art, which makes understanding their specifics possible.

|
Information about the religion, philosophy and aesthetics in India, their reflexion
in architecture, sculpture and music; development and main tendencies in philosophy in China and their influence on fine arts (architecture, sculpture, painting, garden art, music); systems of thought in Japan with the emphasis on zen and its impact on martial arts, music, literature, painting, tea ceremony, ikebana, garden art; short mention about the Islamic influence on art.

Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
Passing the course enables to obtain basic insight into the problems of dependance of art creation on the world view of particular Eastern country. Students formulate and distinguish basic characteristics of cultural peculiarity of mentioned societies, apply analysis of specifics of particular thought system to illustrate and outline specifics of particular work of art, and predict aspects of its principal features. |
