Course objectives:
|
The course aims to introduce students to basic rules of translation and also to skills of equivalent written translation from one language to another, with regard to keeping lexicological, morphological, syntactic and stylistic qualities. The course is taught in German.

Requirements on student
|
Credit. Written translation texts from German to Czech and vice versa with emphasis put on comparative analysis of both texts.

Content
|
Introduction into translating. Difference between translating and interpreting.
To translate journalistic and administrative texts, to work on on own glossary; students will develop their ability to use all language style opportunities.

Knowledge - students are expected to possess the following knowledge before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
to describe the morphological system of German and Czech language |
to describe the structure of the German sentence and to interpret it with a Czech sentence |
have a basic awareness of the differences in functional styles |
to characterize ways of enriching vocabulary |
to enumerate the regional variety of the German language and to have a basic awareness of their differences |
to orientate in basic lexicographical manuals of one- and bilingual (German, Czech-German) |
Skills - students are expected to possess the following skills before the course commences to finish it successfully: |
to communicate in B2 / C1 in German |
to correctly report the communication of written (authentic and didactized) texts in German and the important information they provide |
to understand the longer continuous written authentic text in German and to create a glossary with key terms |
to translate sentence sentences from German into Czech and vice versa and to apply the knowledge of morphology, syntax, lexicology and stylistics in this process |
communicate in Czech best native speaker level, at a very advanced level according to the SERR (at least B2 / C1 - possibly speaking in native speaker level in German) |
