The main topic of this thesis is focused on the realization of the fully printed transistor. The theoretical introduction gives a brief overview of printed electronics with the description of printing techniques suitable for mass production, which are relevant to the main objective of the thesis. There are further mentioned the ionic processes utilized in functional organic electronic devices. The suitable printed transistor structures are described in more detail with the attention given to the organic field-effect transistors (OFET) and especially the organic electrochemical transistor (OECT), that was selected as the basis of the practical output of the thesis.
The second part describes the methodology applied to find a technologically viable way for the realization of the fully printed transistor. Individual experimental phases are described, which have been followed from the experimental OFET structures, over pilot test of the printed OECT up to the third generation of the printed electrochemical transistor with the ionic liquid. This final structure constitutes the practical output of the work which
complies with the criteria given for the low-voltage printed transistor with acceptable dynamics and stability.
