This thesis deals with the political geography of the Persian Gulf and its main characteristics such as Islam and oil. The aim of this work was approximate the Persian Gulf region and to better understand the relationship between states with regard to factors that they affect relations within the region. I also tried to grasp the strategic position of the Persian Gulf region from a global economic perspective, mainly based on the importance of oil . Part of the work I gave an explanation of the terms of geographic region, location and size, while the geographical demarcation of the Gulf States region and with it the related territorial disputes. In this thesis I put emphasis on the historical development of individual countries in the region, since this factor to a large extent determined the present form of the Persian Gulf countries. In the historical development I mainly focused especially on the 7th century in which Islam arose and on the colonization period in which the European powers trying to exert influence in the Persian Gulf.In the chapter devoted to Islam, I defined the main principles of Islam and its five pillars. I mentioned the ratio of representation of Sunnis and Shiites in the individual countries of the Persian Gulf. Another topic which I devote to the regional organizations in the region and the final chapter work I tried to capture the most fundamental conflicts in the Persian Gulf in the 20th century, while I mentioned the Iran-Iraq war and the war in the Persian Gulf.
