The bachelor thesis presents the design of the drive of a rolling mill. The theoretical part deals with various ways of starting, breaking and controlling asynchronous machines. In the next part the asynchronous engine and the frequency converter are designed. The asynchronous motor is dimensioned by the calculation of the effective torque of the motor, the converter by the calculation of the maximum inverter current. Both calculations as well as the whole design are verified by Sizer program. The last part deals with the control of the frequency converter. The location of the control elements on the control unit and the control panel is designed.
