Moje diplomowá práce se věnuje tetování v kontextu socialního a individualního formování lidského tela. Práce je teoreticky ukotvená v klasickém symbolizmu. V praktické částí jisem provedla 10 pohovorů s potetovanymi lidmi, o tom, jak subiektivné vnimaji své tetovani. Výsledkem mého výzkumu je postupná individualizace tetování a ustup kolektivního vnímaní tetování.

My diploma thesis is aim to tattoos and tattooing in context of social and individual forming of social body. Thesis is theoretically based on classical symbolism. In practical part I made 10 interviews with tattooed people, about subjectivity and personal interpretation of own tattoos. Effect of my research is domination of individuality in tattooing, and removing collective perspective of interpreting of tattoos.

In my thesis I would like to observe tattoos as way of demonstrate individual or collective, political, subcultural or religious views. I will pay attention to strong, ideological significance of worldview and social preferences, demonstrated by having strong, ideological tattoos.
For theoretical base of for my work I will use structural theories of Mary Douglas about symbolic and metaphorical background of human body (in my case also with his aware, visual modification: tattoo). Also I would like to use semantic analysis of fashion symbols inside contemporary societies, made by Roland Barthes.
For my own research, I would like to undertake qualitative research in form of direct interviews with a group of holders of ideological tattoos (with strong religious, political, subcultural meanings) from Czech Republic and Poland. During data analyze I would like to get knowledge about similar and most popular motivations, reasons, personal meanings and reflections about having tattoos with strong, and often radical symbolistic background. During research I will mainly try to find answers for these research questions:
A. How tattoos could present ideological views of their owners?
B. How tattoos could correspond with membership in subcultural, political or religious groups?
C. How tattoos could present any form of personal rebel or dissatisfaction?
D. What are symbolical contents and elements of tattoos?
E. How looks individual process of creating and making tattoo?
Schedule:
To 30.10.2012 student will present evidence of practical research (for example: transcriptions of interviews, photos, prepared maps and data tables etc.)
To 28.03.2013 student will present first, complete version of diploma thesis with bibliography, enclosures, contents and every other appendages.
Format and size of diploma thesis will express with actually demands, specified in official documents of University of West Bohemia. Details of format will be solved by individual base.
