This present thesis is focused on the issues of hybrid systems in the automobile industry. The work includes a brief history of hybrid drives since the historically first hybrid vehicle until the present day. It deals with sorting of hybrid drives by the conceptual configurations and also by the degree of hybridization. Thesis also includes a comparison of parallel and serial drive concept with individual advantages and disadvantages for each of these configurations. There are described individual electric motors which are used in hybrid propulsion systems. Conclusion of the work is focused on the use of hybrid drives in the various areas.
