Course objectives:
|
The objective of the course is the practical teaching of excavation techniques on archaeological field research by excavation and the basics of the documentation of archaeological situations. The three-day research is implemented in the summer period.
|
Requirements on student
|
Active participation, activity according to the teacher's instructions; presentation of the results of the part of the excavation and elaboration of a partial report with field documentation. According to the Dean's decision, participation is mandatory.

Content
|
Basic topics:
1) Excavation techniques. 2) Identification of archaeological units. 3) Formalized description of stratigraphic units according to a manual. 4) Drawing documentation (cross-sections, plans). 5) Photographic documentation (oblique images). 6) Registration of finds (the so-called bag list). 7) Field diary. 8) Basics of measuring documentation (work with a levelling device and a total station).
