Course objectives:
|
Acquire basic concepts and categories of the translation theory. Students will be familiarize with basic approaches and methods of translation. The analysis of source text will be focused on the understanding of content and emphasising of the dominant features. Emphasis is placed on systemic differences between Russian nad Czech and on the language tools of technical style. The part of the educational process is analysis of source text, specification of translation methods and commentary. Emphasis will be placed on the adequacy of the translation in terms of semantic, lexical, morphological, syntactic and stylistic. The stress will be put on the adequacy of the translation in semantic, lexical, morphological, syntactic and stylistic levels. Special attention will be paid to interference phenomena and problem areas of mentioned types of text.

Requirements on student
|
1. Regular home preparation of analysis and translation of the text with detailed commentary of
the methods of translation.
2. Student activity in seminars.
3. Elaboration of seminar paper, which will be translation of authentic technical text from the
sphere of tourism and spa industry, the translation will be into both languages accompanied with
analysis and professional translation commentary.

Students will translate authentic texts. Themes: the development of turism and spa industry in the Czech Republic and the Russian Federation, regional policy of tourism, tourism and spa products, activities of tour operators and travel agencies , marketing and management, tourism and spa services, catering and accomodation facilities.

Learning outcomes
|
Knowledge - knowledge resulting from the course: |
Students will acquire basic translation skills for technical translation or publicistic text about tourism and bath industry, they will manage language and stylistic analysis of the source text. They will understand the problems of traditional translation methods and will be able to use basic translation methods to translate original texts. They will be able to justify their strategy of translation and will better work with dictionaries. |
