This diploma thesis deals with speed sensing, simulation of code wheel and magnet behavior and selection of a suitable sensing element for speed sensing. The first part presents the basic principles and properties of speed sensors used in the automotive industry and their comparison with the advantages and disadvantages of them. Using COMSOL Multiphysics software, I performed a simulation of the magnetic field in the gap between the code wheel and the magnet, I compared the simulation with a real measurement. The result was the production of a prototype and its verification. Finally, according to the results, I determined the procedure for selecting a suitable sensor for a given code wheel.
