Práce se pokouší definovat potenciální vliv námořního obchodu Byblu na vzájemné pronikání kultur na Předním východě a speciálně se zaměřuje na 3. a 2. tisíciletí př. Kr. V první části je představena klíčová lokalita středomořského pobřeží a její geografické a sociální kontexty, ve druhé části je zkoumán potenciální vliv objevení se námořního obchodu Byblu na společnosti třetího tisíciletí a naznačovány také následky tohoto fenoménu pro druhé tisíciletí př. Kr. Krátce je zde pojednáno o pozici Byblu ve druhém tisíciletí samostatně. Metoda výzkumu je založená na propojování odděleně pojímaných informací o kulturách a jejich vývoji stejně jako na syntézách ve vědeckých článcích, převážně z oboru antropologie a historie, nebo interpretativní archeologie.

The work is trying to define the potential influence of the maritime trade of Byblos on mutual cultural penetration within Middle East, with special focus on third and second millennium B.C. First part is introducing the key locality on Mediterranean coast and it´s geographical and social settings, in the second part there is examination of potencial impact of emergence of maritine trade of Byblos on third millennium societies with hinting at it´s consequences even for the second millennia B.C. In short there is also mentioned the position of Byblos in the second millennium separately. The method of research is based on connecting separated informations about cultures and their development as well as on synthesis in scientifical articals, mainly from the field of antropology and history, or interpretative archaeology.
