Key learning outcomes
|
Graduates demonstrate an understanding of the German language system in all its aspects, the development of German literature (based on reading), the basic concepts of the analysis of literary theoretical belles-lettres and methods of analysing literary works, they demonstrate knowledge of working with texts of different styles in German, knowledge of modern teaching methods and research procedures, assessment criteria of didactic texts and teaching aids for secondary schools. Graduates are able to analyse various types of utterances in terms of their linguistic and textual construction, to assess their linguistic culture, they are also able to utilise professional and educational expertise for the implementation of specific teaching methods and in developing a curriculum, they have the ability to diagnose students' learning styles and learning disabilities, they have the skills to individualise their approach to students, to choose the method with respect to individual traits of students, they are able to make independent decisions and to solve educational situations, they have the skill to choose and use appropriate teaching aids including multimedia. Graduates are able to make independent decisions and to resolve specific situations in teaching German language, to explain and to defend their chosen teaching methods to a group of students and teachers, are able to solve a given problem (from the German language or literature) in a team, using appropriate research methods. Graduates are able to present the results of individual and team solutions of a given linguistic, literary or didactic problem, to justify it in the front of an expert committee and their classmates, they are able to conduct professional communication in one other foreign language.

Profile of the programme
|
This study programme is designed as an academic one. It consists of blocks of theoretical courses dealing with the field of linguistics, literature and didactics. At the same time, it comprises blocks of courses focusing on exploiting theoretical background in practice and on acquiring skills that the graduate can apply in various positions, for example as a teacher on Secondary Schools. The programme also includes practical pedagogical training. This study programme is designed to equip the future graduate with theoretical background and skills necessary for the next educational level. In addition, after successfully completing this study programme, the graduate can apply for positions in various fields, such as teacher.
