Key learning outcomes
|
Graduates are able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the basic trends of development of geographical thinking. They dispose of fundamental knowledge and skills broad scale of geographical and economic disciplines - physical and human geographies, historical and cultural geographies, theory and methodology of geography, cartography, geoinformatics, macroeconomics, economic statistics with a special focus on fundamental terminology and conceptual systematic thinking. Graduates get an overview of scientific subject publications, journals and researches. They understand and apply patterns of regional development. They are able to use basic analytical and synthetic methods of geographical research and they can apply these methods in concrete practical situations. Graduates are trained to work and cooperate in a team, they know how to process data and present the results of their own investigations appropriately, and to work with information technologies (including GIS). Graduates have language skills in one world language and are able to work with international scientific literature. Graduates will acquire assumptions for subsequent study of geography in Master degree program as well as qualification for positions in public administration dealing with regional problems and development.

Profile of the programme
|
This study programme is designed as an academic one. It consists of blocks of theoretical courses dealing with the field of geographical and economic disciplines - physical and human geographies, historical and cultural geographies, theory and methodology of geography, cartography, geoinformatics, macroeconomics, economic statistics with a special focus on fundamental terminology and conceptual systematic thinking. At the same time, it comprises a block/blocks of courses focusing on exploiting theoretical background in practice and on acquiring skills that the graduate can apply in various positions, for example, geographical information system, geographical research, geography of localities. The programme also includes practical training/study mobility/internship. This study programme is designed to equip the future graduate with theoretical background and skills necessary for study in a follow-up Master's study programme in geography.
